WIPs

In case you wonder what I have been up to lately:

I am crocheting an amigurumi doll that was named kangaroo Kira by its creator lalylala. See all progress here.

And I am getting ready for Valentine’s Day 🙂 My pattern for a crocheted 3d heart can be found here.

crocheted 3D heartThe granny square blanket I am working on (feels like forever …) will get an extra blog post one of these days; the same goes for the colored bobbles baby blanket and the black lace scarf. None of them is finished yet and may not be in the near future …

Clearly not enough time for all things yarn in my life – but who am I telling this?!

Sunday

Forces are in position, J says …

Gruppenbild… and I’ve fixed the kitchen window (sort of …)

DSCI0426I have a new laptop, it’s beautiful outside and we’re rolling with the punches. Thank you all, for your eMails and comments, here and over at facebook! Each message and thought sure helped a lot to regain composure.

But now: back to crochet, knitting and blogging!

Offline and badly off

This weekend, someone broke into our house. They would pry open the kitchen window to take jewellery and my laptop. Every single picture that I took since J was born is on that laptop. No backup. As soon as I have a new computer, I’ll try to rescue what ever may have been on my camera’s SD cards. Wish me luck.

However, what troubles me the most is that they have been all over: They opened every drawer, every little box, everything in the house. They even rummaged around in my knitting basket.

I may not blog for a while, I don’t know.

Coffee Cup Cozy

We went to my parents‘ house for Christmas and somehow I thought I might survive those three days with neither needles nor yarn. Mistake! BIG mistake! So I grabbed what was there and knitted with little left over bits and pieces of yarn.

There has been a partner for the red cozy too, but as I knitted my sister’s name and a heart on it you may guess where it is now … My favourite picture is the one with the grey cozies and the silver spoon. Very state-of-the-art 🙂

St. Nicholas Day

In Germany St. Nicholas Day is a big thing: Children put out a (well polished) shoe outside their home on the eve of St. Nicholas Day, hoping to find candy or a small gift or both in it the very next morning.

Today is St. Nicholas Day. And of course this year, as every year, we were St. Nicholas was well prepared to fill J’s sneaker.

Now try to imagine how M and I felt when we found wrapped little gifts in our (!) shoes too! Here’s what I had:

I guess that answers the question I have been asking myself whether J still believes in Santa Claus and the like … Kind of sad, I know – he’s growing up waaaaay too fast – but you should have seen him this morning, beaming with delight that he had been able to surprise us.

To quote Martin Luther: – „It is more blessed to give than to receive.“ 🙂

A wonderful St. Nicholas Day to all of you out there!
