Very lazy Sunday

(Again) I ran out of yarn. Though three skeins are on their way they didn’t get here yet. And I would so much love to work on the sock yarn blanket I started crocheting the other day. It’s inspired by Tamara’s „Blackberry Salad Striped Baby Blanket“ (I changed the pattern slightly though by crocheting sc rather than dc) but less colorful.

This is how far it got last week; even the back is nice
This is how far I got last night (length: 55cm/21in; width: 90cm/35in)

However, how do you spend a Sunday when running out of yarn?! Here’s what I did:

I read and admired every single article Natasja over at crochetime posted and tagged with Ta-daah! to realize I am still a crochet debutante …

After learning that there have been tornados again in the US, I surfed the net, trying to find out about Hannah’s hometown and whether they were hit again. (Looks like they were not).

I ironed 22 shirts. 20 for the man, one for me, and one for the boy (feel like wonder woman now 🙂 )

We had tea and cake to celebrate Boo Boo’s 3rd birthday. (Boo Boo is the first crochet monster I have ever made).

Later today, we’ll be watching the German Basketball Playoffs on TV.

All through the day it has been pouring rain. (No complaints here – I much rather have rain than a tornado). The boy is bored, still in his PJs, grumbling that time goes too slow. The man should know today’s newspaper by heart after hiding behind it for hours. In short: a very lazy Sunday.

What have you been up to?

Crochet Bags

Surfing the net, I realized a few days ago that there are some very nice crochet bags out there: very colorful, very fashionable, very useful! And all of a sudden I knew that those little squares (Edie Eckman motiv #88) I have made, were not to become a blanket as intended.

Instead, M and I spent hours trying to arrange some of them according to Inga’s pattern in such a way that same colors do not adjoin … Well, if you look at the final outcome we did not succeed. Yes, it bugs me. No, I won’t undo it. There are enough little squares left to start over and make a second bag 🙂

Crochet Bag

Recently, Juliane too has discovered crochet bags. Here is the bag she made for a little girl. I really like her choice of colors! Pretty in pink 🙂

A Teddy goes Public

I have quite a few childhood friends, some forever friends, but also business friends and eMail friends. Some are casual friends others are close friends but there is only ONE genuine crochet friend (well, maybe two crochet friends, says J, referring to Hannah, her constant interest and support in my projects and blog … :)).

Anyhow – it was rather by chance that Juliane and I realized we’re both hookers. However, she does not have a blog (yet) and consequently I am in the fortunate position to post the little bear she made the other day. She calls him the UglyTeddy, which is probably a synonym for „Teddy with a lot of character“ as he is not ugly at all.

Be it as it may, the UglyTeddy is here to meet the world. Please welcome the UglyTeddy with me (Ta-daaaah – a drum roll, please).

Gardening

Last weekend my parents were here to visit. As they live on a farm they would give us tomato plants to be planted in our garden.

The box they used as a tray says „ray of sunlight“. However, what I liked best are the support sticks. Sharing them with you is a must.

You do recognize them as what they are, right? Of course, once we have tomatoes they will be red and yellow respectively. (I am serious – that’s what my mom said). 🙂
