For all of you who don’t speak German – or not quite enough to follow what I wrote above: the domain is officially mine – YAY! I can’t tell you how happy and excited I am to finally have my very own corner of the internet. It feels like a small dream realized! A space that’s entirely mine to shape, share, and fill with whatever I want. I’m absolutely thrilled about the possibilities. Can’t wait to start making it truly my own!

Stash Blanket

Last weekend, my dad turned 80, and we had a truly wonderful celebration. The house was filled with relatives and friends – people I hadn’t seen in years, some faces I barely even remembered, and it made me realize just how quickly time passes.

Seeing them all together again brought a mix of joy and nostalgia, but also a little pang of uncertainty – I wonder if I’ll ever see some of them again. It’s the kind of thought that lingers, something I know I’ll need to sit with and reflect on a bit more.

The party was full of laughter, stories from the past, and the warmth of family connections, but it also reminded me of how fleeting moments like these can be, and how important it is to cherish them while we have them.

stash blanket häkelmonsterI’m working on a blanket made entirely from my stash – all sorts of colors and textures, coming together like a festival of yarn. Each square adds its own bit of character, and I love seeing how the pieces mix and play off each other. What do you think?

Counting my Blessings on Thanksgiving

Finally, the sky is blue again, and the sun even made an appearance—I can’t tell you how grateful I feel for a bit of warmth and light. Today we had family over for dinner, sharing a meal that’s probably just like what so many of you are having (or will have) today. And once again, I found myself feeling truly thankful.

The man and the kid, the house that keeps us cozy, my parents and sisters… sometimes just pausing to count my blessings takes my breath away. It’s those everyday things, the people I love, the comfort of home, and the moments of connection that remind me how full life really is.

Today was one of those days when gratitude settles deep in my chest and refuses to leave.

A scarf made entirely from my stash—violet, turquoise, beige, green, anything from thin sock yarn to bulky wool—knitted lengthwise on the largest needles I could find. I didn’t bother weaving in the ends; instead, they became part of the design as fringes.

Albertha & friend

Looks like I’m not quite done with the little people after all—here are two more to add to the collection. It’s still foggy and gray outside; I honestly don’t remember seeing the sun for at least a week. Consequently, the kid insisted that the little people get dressed—he said it’s far too cold to run around naked.

So here they are: Albertha, on the right, the very first doll to get a proper name, and her nameless friend. The kid came up with Albertha himself, inspired by his two favorite teams: Alba Berlin (basketball) and Hertha BSC (soccer). Al-Ber-tha – Apparently, he has two hearts in his chest—one for each team—and both fight for attention at the same time! Or – to quote J. W. von Goethe – “two souls, alas, are housed within his breast, and each will wrestle for the mastery there.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself 😉

Even on these foggy, gray days, little people keep life playful and even a bit magical.

Another Blanket

Another blanket finished! Fall always makes me crave the warmth and comfort of blankets, and this one was no exception. But this time, it’s for a baby boy, which makes it extra special. I made it out of diagonal knitted squares, pieced together from leftover sock yarn. That not only gives the blanket a soft and cozy feel, but also makes it surprisingly sturdy—perfect for when a toddler hopefully drags it around everywhere someday. Each square adds a little bit of charm and character, and together they create a playful, textured pattern that’s as fun to look at as it is to snuggle under.
