Granny Square Blanket

This is what I crochet when taking the train to work: a small size granny square blanket. Each square measures 12×12″ (30x30cm).

I am usually pretty good in boiling down stash but no matter how hard I try – some skeins seem to last forever. They’re mainly sock yarn in weird color gradients, hardly more than one skein each and I know I will never (ever) use them for anything „real.“ However, I wanted to get rid of them AND at the same time I needed some easy crochet or knitting to take along with me. So I decided to make a blanket: 1 ball = 1 square.

This is where I am right now:

Granny Square Blanket Granny Square Blanket Granny Square BlanketGruesome colors, I know. How about joining them in turquoise? Same color for the edging. That will brighten up the blanket and unite its parts. Maybe not turquise but orange. Not sure yet.

However, another two and a half squares and I am done. That will make a nice, small blanket, 47×35″ / 120x90cm.

Have a good weekend.

Crochet Bags

Surfing the net, I realized a few days ago that there are some very nice crochet bags out there: very colorful, very fashionable, very useful! And all of a sudden I knew that those little squares (Edie Eckman motiv #88) I have made, were not to become a blanket as intended.

Instead, M and I spent hours trying to arrange some of them according to Inga’s pattern in such a way that same colors do not adjoin … Well, if you look at the final outcome we did not succeed. Yes, it bugs me. No, I won’t undo it. There are enough little squares left to start over and make a second bag 🙂

Crochet Bag

Recently, Juliane too has discovered crochet bags. Here is the bag she made for a little girl. I really like her choice of colors! Pretty in pink 🙂

Flower Blanket

The weather is bad, it’s cold, rainy, NASTY outside and I feel the urge to repost the flower blanket. Here it is, together with J:

Blumendecke

Recently, I started working on a „summer version“ (pure cotton) but the store ran out of red and pink … Not sure what to do next. Maybe I’ll arrange the squares randomly without any red or pink at all. I might as well wait for next summer hoping that both colors will be available again. Or I surf the net (why didn’t I think of that before?!) and find it online. It’s definitely a 2013 project …

No Flower Blanket

I started those little squares in 2010 (yes, 2010 …) and maybe I needed a blog to finally confess this will NEVER be a blanket. NEVER. Each flower square measures an inch …

But what am I going to do with them? Greeting cards? A mini scarf? A border of some sort? Or yet a baby blanket with the flowers spread out randomly? What color and how? I don’t know. What would you do? Suggestions are highly appreciated …

Purl Bee’s Best

The Purl Bee posted their Best of 2012 and I can’t help myself from thinking that I NEED MORE TIME to do all the things I really want to do!

As a matter of fact, I really want to finish all those projects laying around here (…), before starting the Rainbow Blanket. Right after that the Penguins will be topping my list – even though I have never sewn before. Let’s hope that in the meantime the Purl Bee does not come up with other wonderful suggestions …
